You've just spent a year planning your big annual conference and now you want to make sure you document all the great moments for next year. What do you do?
It's a big event with a lot of hard work you put into. Why wouldn't you invest part of your budget towards making sure you have a solid photographer for your event. And no, that doesn't mean your cousin that just got a camera for Christmas! You're thinking...what could go wrong? You just need a good camera and you'll be set. Conference photography takes an experienced photographer as well as great equipment to be great. It's not like capturing your kid's birthday party (while that is difficult in its own way!).

Experience with Lighting
For conferences, you have only a bit of time while the speaker is on stage to get those key shots that you're going to want to use in your marketing materials next year. The lighting is usually horrible and if you're an amateur photographer, it's going to show. Crisp, clear shots on a poorly lit stage usually require a sharp telephoto lens and really good experience with flash photography.
As professionals, we know how to bounce the light or use the right lens to make sure you look your best on stage.Professionals also know how to adjust when the lighting isn't as originally expected or things change (as they often do with events!). On average, our team at Eversnap has 10-15 years of experience with a lot of different gear to get those key moments "right."
Range of Equipment
Most volunteers and amateur photographers often just have a pretty good camera body. This is a great start but when it comes to amazing candids (with people's fast-moving facial expressions), you'll also need a range of different lenses and a solid flash to make sure you can capture the shots from a technical point of view.
If you're on the side of the room and further back (which you often have to be for conferences), you'll need a telephoto lens. Without this, your shots may not come out as sharp or you'll just be stuck with photos that don't show your speaker up-close.

"The Blurry Background" Professional Photographers know you don't actually mean a blurry photo (because who likes that?). To get that beautiful "bokeh effect" that makes the photo's background a bit out of focus so the attention is brought to the main subject you're focused on. We LOVE getting a few of these shots for your speakers and VIP guests. No, it's not magic or just a really good camera, but it comes back to that experience and knowledge of the right lenses to use. You can learn more about it here. |
Knowledge of Marketing & Events We're also really experienced in marketing and we understand what images sell tickets. This way you can use these photos for ads or marketing materials when next year's event is coming around the corner. Plus, wouldn't it be nice to be able to send your favorite sponsors and supporters professional shots of their booth or signage at the event? We've also worked with over 100,000 events worldwide (ranging from weddings to multi-day conferences) so we understand a lot about telling stories. We're really experienced at making sure we capture a lot of smiles and people having a good time! :) |
Reliability
Beyond quality of your photography, you're going to want to make sure your photographer is someone you can depend on who will stay focused on capturing the event. How many times have you heard of the volunteer photographer dropping out at the last minute or socializing more than focusing on capturing all your key marketing shots? Unfortunately, there's not much someone can even do or spend to fix poorly taken photos once the event has passed.
We understand you can't redo your event. This is why professionals have methods in place to reduce the chances of emergency situations and are much more reliable. At Eversnap, in the very rare case an emergency has happened (injury, accident, etc.), we will try to send another photographer to make sure you are covered.

But if you've invested a lot of time, effort and money on your event and all your other vendors, why wouldn't you invest in a professional to have amazing photos to show off all that hard work?
